Abstract
The study population included children diagnosed with ADHD and those without ADHD. They were taken from schools that catered to children diagnosed with ADHD and regular schools. Out of the 16 schools that specifically catered to children with ADHD that were visited, only schools chose to participate. One regular school also participated in the study. There were a total 65 children with ADHD that were enrolled in these institutions, 15 patients did not consent and only 50 parents of these children gave their consent and participated in the conduct of the study. Pilot testing was done to check the consistency of the questionnaire. Based on the tool used, Cronbach's analysis, the tool had a 100% sensitivity and specificity which is comparable to the 90% sensitivity and specificity of the existing English version of the Vanderbilt ADHD Parent Rating Scale. Based on the results 50 children who ere already diagnosed with ADHD 41 children tested positive using the tool and there were 9 children who tested negative using the tool. Out of the 50 children without ADHD, 49 children tested negative and there was 1 child who tested positive using the tool. Using the Wilsons scoring, it showed a 95% confidence interval, with a sensitivity of 82.35% which means that the tool has a high sensitivity in ruling out patients with ADHD. It also showed a 98% specificity in ruling in patients with ADHD. The study also showed a high positive and regative predictive value meaning that the tools is able to diagnose accurately those children with and without ADHD.
