Abstract
In this retrospective cohort study, the charts of singleton term neonates diagnosed with early neonatal sepsis admitted at De La Salle University Medical Center from 2015 until 2018 were reviewed. Exposure comparison was done with increased and normal RDW compared with outcome namely, Definite sepsis (n=16), Probable sepsis (N=12), No sepsis (n=47) with WBC, CRP and length of hospital stay. In conclusion, RDW is associated with early neonatal sepsis as a possible prognosticating factor and may serve as an indicator for duration of hospital stay.
