Abstract

In this descriptive cross-sectional retrospective study, the newborn screening records, newborn, and mothers' patient records from November 2018-November 2019 were reviewed. A follow-up interview was done to determine compliance to Confirmatory Testing. The study concluded that Confirmatory Testing is beneficial for neonates with positive Newborn Screening results, as it will guide subsequent treatment plans and improve health outcomes. Inadequate knowledge of Newborn Screening and Confirmatory Testing process and the remote location of the Confirmatory Testing centers and are the leading causes of noncompliance. Physicians have a significant role in educating parents about testing procedure, the disorders and possible plans of management so as to encourage compliance among them.
