Abstract
This study was a retrospective cohort analysis of 321 pregnant patients from a tertiary hospital in Cavite. Data from 2014-2018 were analyzed. Data were stratified by BMI and gestational weight gain and Pearson chi-square test were used for hypertensive disorder comparisons. This study concludes that development of hypertensive disorder is dependent on the BMI of the patients. Further, this means that the development of hypertension is dependent on the gained weight of the respondents. However, patients with normal GWG must be carefully monitored for the development of hypertension. Health care providers should consider the interrelationship between gestational weight gain (GWG) and BMI when counseling patients regarding HDP.
