Abstract

This study explored the impact of body image on the desire of adolescents to change or lose weight, examining how underlying motivations stem from deeper factors. The research, conducted through an embedded design, integrates qualitative and quantitative data to analyze how body image, vitality, and sociocultural pressures fuel adolescents' drive to lose or change weight in response to societal standards. The study also investigated the role of early childhood experiences, including familial influences and peer comparisons, in shaping self-perception and body-related concerns. These factors intertwine to affect body acceptance and highlight the intricate relationship between body image and the desire for weight change during a critical stage of adolescent development.
