Media, particularly television, significantly shapes perceptions and influences consumers, including medical drama enthusiasts. The specific problem addressed in this study is understanding how medical dramas affect students' envisioned professions in the medical field. The purpose of this study is to determine how these dramas influence the envisioned profession of senior high school students in the health sciences program and to address the issue about the uncertainty many individuals face regarding the course or profession that they will choose. Data was collected using a self-made questionnaire and interviews, employing a purposive-snowball sampling technique to connect with five Grade 12 students who relate to the impacts of medical dramas. Conducted at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, this descriptive qualitative study applied thematic analysis to evaluate students' perceptions. The findings conclude that medical dramas significantly influenced the envisioned profession in the medical field. These dramas inspire students through portrayals of dedication, challenges, and achievements. As seen in characters like Cristina Yang from Grey's Anatomy which sparks interest and determination, showcasing diverse medical specializations and realistic depictions of pre-medicine and medical courses help students refine their aspirations and align their goals with their skills and passions. The study concludes that medical dramas serve as both inspirational and educational tools, offering vicarious experiences that encourage self-efficacy, career determination, and informed decision-making. By presenting both the challenges and triumphs of the medical field, these dramas equip students with a clearer vision of their future careers, fostering a sense of purpose for a fulfilling healthcare profession.
