Abstract
Vision is the most dominant sense in human life, significantly influencing daily activities, social participation, and overall quality of life (QoL). For individuals with visual impairments (VI), quality of life (QoL) is shaped by a mix of factors, including health, socio-economic conditions, and personal attitudes. This study looks at the experiences of visually impaired massage therapists, focusing on how their profession affects their QoL and the difficulties they may experience. The research explores how sociodemographic and occupational factors influence quality of life. Using qualitative methods, the study gathered insights from massage therapists in the Philippines, where visual impairments are common. It highlights challenges such as limited access to health information, commuting difficulties, and personal relationships. While massage therapy offers a valuable career path for many visually impaired individuals, the study finds that workplace accommodations, societal attitudes, and mental health support are essential for sustaining their well-being and success. The findings underline the need for better policies, training, and greater recognition of the abilities of visually impaired workers to improve their career opportunities and overall life satisfaction.
