Abstract

Gender stereotyping norms can be seen anywhere, although some may believe they start at home. This study examines how household gender stereotyping norms impact Grade 12 Senior High School Students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute during the A.Y. 2023-2024. It investigates the learned norms at home, students' perceptions of these norms, and how they influence daily life. Through qualitative methods, like interviews, the research aims to uncover the role of these norms in shaping students' attitudes and behaviors within familial and societal contexts. The findings will inform efforts to promote gender equality within educational and familial settings. The research on Grade 12 students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute shows that household chores are divided by traditional gender roles: females do chores like washing dishes and laundry, while males handle other tasks. Students are aware of these stereotypes; some challenge them, especially females. Democratic parenting helps promote gender equality, especially for boys. Students express varied feelings about these norms, including frustration and pressure. Despite awareness, many still unconsciously follow these stereotypes. Cultural awareness and resilience affect how students perceive and react to gender norms.
