Abstract

This study investigates the impact of social media use on the perception of body image and satisfaction among senior high school students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSMHSI). The research aims to enhance the understanding of how social media influences these students' body image perceptions and satisfaction levels. By analyzing demographic factors such as gender, age, and frequently used social media platforms, the study identifies significant differences in perceived effects on body image and satisfaction. Data were collected from 255 respondents using an adapted questionnaire. The online survey gathered information on demographics, social media usage, and body image perceptions through a Likert scale. Results indicate that social media impacts individuals of all genders and ages, regardless of platform. The findings highlight the complex influence of social media on personal well-being, showing that DLSMHSI senior high school students experience a low to moderate impact on body image perception and satisfaction. To further explore this topic, the researchers recommend including parental viewpoints in future studies to determine if parental involvement affects youth body image perception and satisfaction.
