Abstract

The Philippines faces several reproductive health issues, for instance, unintended pregnancies, illegal abortion, and sexually transmitted diseases. These are what make the female adolescent population increasingly susceptible to a number of reproductive health issues. Thus, this research aims to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of its respondents to impart a descriptive analysis on the current state of reproductive health among female adolescent senior high school students from a health-allied institution and determine whether there are significant differences among their KAP assessment depending on population age and grade level. A descriptive quantitative study was conducted and disseminated through the distribution of an online survey test containing an adapted and selfmade questionnaire, following the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices theoretical framework. Descriptive statistics were used for the analysis of the gathered data and were interpreted and discussed to establish answers and address the research questions. The results showed a mean score of 4.61 for knowledge, 3.31 for attitudes, and 1.69 for practices among the respondents (N = 284). It was established that age and grade level are factors that affect knowledge and attitudes among the respondents. The study gathered that female adolescents ages 15 to 18 from a health-allied senior high school had a high degree of reproductive health knowledge, varying between age and grade level. Although the population exhibits good attitudes towards reproductive health, they display inconsistent healthy practices. This indicates the need for further research to better understand contributing factors.
