Abstract
The isolation and characterization of the bacteria were accomplished through performing swabbing technique and streak plate technique. An area of 10 cm x 10 cm of 15 bedpans were swabbed firmly using sterile swabs. After swabbing technique, the sterile swabs were streaked to 15 blood agar plates and 15 MacConkey Agar plates with proper aseptic technique. Through the colony characteristics seen on the agar plates, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter cloaceae were the pathogenic bacteria identified. Enterobacter cloacae exhibited a butyrous, punctiform and opaque morphological structure. These bacteria could cause mild to severe infections such as urinary tract infections, lower respiratory tract infection and bacteremia.
