Abstract
This study utilized a descriptive quantitative method research design. Guided by the study that was done in Nigeria (2016), entitled Diversity of Commercial Intercity Vehicles (buses and tricycle) Microbiome, the sample size was obtained. The researchers then came up with a total of 12 samples from their choice of public transportation. The public transportation that was used as a sample was picked through convenient sampling. Thus, four (4) samples from two (2) jeepneys collecting two (2) swabs each, four (4) samples from two (2) buses, collecting two (2) swabs from each and four (4) samples from two (2) mini buses, collecting two (2) swabs each two (2) swabs were collected from each type of vehicle to duplicate the results and have more variations when it comes to sampling area. The results showed that both buses and mini buses carry pathogenic microorganisms in their handrails as exhibited by increased colony count when subjected to laboratory analysis.
