Abstract
This study aimed at isolating and identifying the non-albicans Candida species from glucose-positive urine of patients. From the 40 samples, 13 were positive of yeast growth and were subjected to morphological analyses and API Candida. Non-albicans Candida were present in 7.5% of the total population namely C. kefyr, C. tropicalis and C. glabrata. Hence, 5% was exhibited in +1 glucose-positive urine, followed by 5% in +2, and none in trace, +3 and +4 respectively. The findings indicate that there is a an emergence of non-albicans Candida in the glucose-positive urine of patients at DLSUMC but there is no correlation between the two.
