Abstract
This study used three different concentrations of aqueous extracts, 100%, 80% and 50%. Thru petri dish test and pinch test the time of onset of paralysis in minutes of the worm was determined in three trials. Results showed that the mean time of onset of paralysis (minutes of Ascaris suum in Ananas comosus Linn. (Pineapple) peel extract were 41.68, 25.34 and 34.7 for 100%, 80% and 50% respectively. For the mean time of onset of paralysis (minutes) of the worm in Carica papaya Linn. (papaya) seed extract for 100%, 80% and 50% is 76.22, 50.05 and 57.31, respectively. Moreover, the positive control showed 28.87 for the mean time of onset of paralysis and the negative control showed 33.76. The varying concentrations of the extract has no significant difference with each other. It was revealed that the Ananas comosus (Pineapple) peel extract showed more significant effect against Ascaris suum compared to Carica papaya (Papaya) seed extract. It is recommended for future researches to use ethanolic extract of the fruit and use another fruit which belongs to the family of Carica papaya (Papaya) and Ananas comosus (Pineapple). Moreover, consider the size of the worms to be used, also use the other species of Ascaris which is Ascaris lumbricoides.
