Abstract

This study employs an experimental research design. The study used Citrofortunella microcarpa or Calamansi leaves to determine its antifungal properties. The method gathering was adapted from a research study conducted by dilag et al. (2016) entitled Antifungal Activity of Some Medicinal Plants Against Selected Species of Dermatophytes. The microorganism Candida albicans was cultured in Glucose Yeast Peptone Agar (GYD) plates about 3 mm thick and after the 100% and 50% leaf extract of Citrofortunella microcarpa was administered, it was incubated 35°C and observed after 24 hours. The research measured the clearing zone for both 50% and 100% concentrations and the positive control, Clotrimazole. The two concentrations for Calamansi leaf extract both exhibited a positive effect against Candida albicans in terms of their clearing zone. The differences between the three solutions, 100% Calamansi leaf extract, 50% Calamansi leaf extract and Clotrimazole, used in the experiment are highly significant because the variances of their clearing zones are very small. This implies that the effects of the solutions are consistent. The experiment used (0.00 difference) is highly significant based from Tukey's test with significant level at p=0.05.
