Abstract
The study aimed to identify challenges faced by 4th-year Radiologic Technology students and alumni from the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 batches of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute during Competency Assessment and Remediation. Using a descriptive-quantitative design, data were collected via a researcher-made Likert scale questionnaire focused on delivery, content, environment, resources, and assessment clusters aligned with the Board of Radiologic Technology's Table of Specifications and Bandura’s Self Efficacy Theory. The statistical results, analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test for independent samples, showed that the respondents generally faced a moderate level of challenges in their academic experience. While issues related to delivery, content, self-efficacy, time management, and learning environment were relatively minimal, some areas still posed notable difficulties. In particular, respondents reported challenges in allocating review time after multiple assessments and in aspects related to performance accomplishment, physiological state, and motivation. The greatest challenges were identified in Radiologic Positioning and Radiographic Positioning (Cluster 3). Statistical analysis showed that sex was not significantly associated with the challenges encountered in the five clusters of Competency Assessment and Remediation by the respondents. These findings underscore the importance of providing targeted strategies and academic interventions to address these specific areas and support overall competency development.
