Abstract

This study examined the awareness and attitude of radiologic technologists toward interprofessional education collaboration (IPEC). A correlational research design was used, employing purposive sampling as the sampling method. A total of 118 radiologic technologists participated in the study. A self-made questionnaire was used to determine their level of awareness and attitude toward interprofessional education collaboration. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, Mann-Whitney U test, and Spearman rank correlation. The majority of the respondents were female, aged 20 to 39 years, working in the diagnostic area, and employed in private hospitals or medical centers. Findings revealed that respondents are moderately aware, indicating that they are functional collaborators but are not yet theoretically informed about the IPEC core competencies—values and ethics, roles and responsibilities, communication, and teams and teamwork—and also expressed a moderately positive attitude toward interprofessional collaboration. Statistical analysis showed no significant association between sex and the level of awareness or attitude on interprofessional education collaboration, this is due to the study’s focus on the level of awareness and attitude towards the IPEC core competencies which applies universally, regardless of gender. However, a very high positive relationship was found between awareness and attitude on interprofessional education collaboration, suggesting that increased understanding of IPEC principles contributes to a more favorable and positive attitude toward interprofessional education collaboration.
