Abstract

This study described the work experiences of radiographers in the United Kingdom. The participants were of Bachelor of Sciences in Radiologic Technology graduates from De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute of any batch. This study utilized a qualitative research design, particularly the descriptive qualitative approach. Through purposive and snowball sampling, the participants were chosen. From the interview of seven participants, 189 significant statements were extracted - and clustered into seven themes. The themes present the requisites for application to UK which the participants acknowledge; the shifts and rotations that are considered flexible and that allow time for personal and social engagements and extra work hours; the policies and protocols on imaging, patient identification and radiation protection; the challenges posed by cultural differences and communication including difficulty in understanding the local language and the difference in the work habits between and among cultures, and the contribution of Filipino colleagues in the workplace; the monetary benefits and the paid leaves and enhancement pays; the procedures on imaging with focus on patient handling and equipment utilization; the acknowledged need for professional development.
