Abstract

This study was conducted to determine Filipino radiologic technologists’ attitudes and barriers towards Continuing Professional Development. A quantitative non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional research design was utilized in this research. The participants were chosen through non-probability sampling specifically a purposive sampling technique. A self-made questionnaire was used, and the data gathered were treated using analysis of variance, frequency, independent t-test, mean, percentage, and standard deviation. Majority of the respondents are female, ages 24-27, single, working in a government hospital, regular or permanent employee, with a monthly income of Php 20,000-29,000. The respondents had a moderately positive attitude towards CPD in terms of knowledge and adaptive function value-expressive function, and a neutral attitude in the ego-defensive function. Barriers encountered by the respondents include higher costs of CPD programs and lack of budgetary support from employer. The attitude towards CPD of the respondents did not significantly vary in terms of sex, age, civil status, place of work, employment status, and monthly income. The same results were observed for the barriers experienced by the respondents towards CPD, except for sex, where females faced higher barriers compared to males.
