Abstract

This study described the experiences of radiologic technology scholars from the College of Medical Imaging and Therapy. The participants were students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute from first year to third year, enrolled during the first semester of Academic Year 2022-2023, and were granted a scholarship title. This study utilized a qualitative research design, particularly the descriptive qualitative approach. Through the purposive sampling method, the participants were chosen.

Based on the findings, it was concluded that scholars started their journeys in various ways. There were challenges, considered to be external influences and internal factors, which had a significant impact with regard to academic performance, personal life, and in some cases, even their mental state. Furthermore, the participants were driven by the simple reality that scholarship programs would provide financial aid to their families, while others found incentive in their responsibilities as officers of the institution. The inspirations encouraged the scholars to maintain a commitment to the highest standards. Motivating factors, such as family support and hope for success, kept the students going and helped them learn that difficulties are always pleasurable. Overall, based on the participants’ descriptions, the findings of this study demonstrated that several sources of satisfaction came just from being scholars at this institution. The participants were able to remark that it takes a lot of time, perseverance, commitment, and strenuous effort in order to accomplish their best aim.
