Abstract

Descriptive method was used in the study. There were 23 respondents who have undergone internship in first semester, school year 2001-2002 selected using purposive sampling technique. A questionnaire was used to obtain data to evaluate the internship program of the college and the internship performance of the students. The internship performance of the respondents was identified based on their hospital performance, intern supervisors’ evaluation and clinical education. Mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation and Pearson’s r were used to analyzed data. The study concluded that, 1) There was very satisfactory compliance to the internship program of the college as assessed by the respondents. This implied that the internship program was effective; 2) The obtained mean grade of the internship performance was interpreted as good and showed that the interns performed well in their respective hospital assignments; 3) There was a very small positive correlation between the compliance to general policies, compliance to revalida examination, compliance to students’ hospital assignments, compliance to intern-supervisor hospital visitation, compliance to programs for interns in affiliated hospital and the internship performance of the respondents respectively.
