Abstract

This study utilized the descriptive survey method. The total population of 92 breast cancer cases at University of Perpetual Help Rizal Medical Center and De La Salle University Medical Center from January 1997 to December 2000 were included. Percentage, t-test and chi-square test of association were used for data analysis. The study concluded that, 1) There were many factors that may affect the occurrence of breast cancer with each patient. These factors were family history, age which is likely that older women, status which women who remains single in later age, high risk occupation and diet, whose diet is very high in fat. None of these factors can be considered accurate for every patient. This information signals a very depressing condition of the health of the people especially women whose cancer risk has not been lessened by scientific investigation; 2) Among the four (4) risk factors, history had the greatest possibility of association that existed among the patients. The disease was more prominent among middle-aged adult, especially women 30 years old and above.
