Abstract

To investigate the relationship of academic performance in college and performance in clinical internship in board examination of Associate in Aguinaldo, SY 1991-1992. Specifically, this aimed to:(1) Find out the academic performance of Radiologic Technology graduates of investigate the relationship of academic performance in college and performance in clinical internship in board examination of Associate in Aguinaldo, SY 1991-1992. Specifically, this aimed to: (1) Find out the academic performance of Radiologic Technology graduates of Determine the correlation between the weighted linear combination of academic performance in college and clinical internship and board rating. A sample population of 19 RT examinees which comprised of 90.47% of the total population of 21 was used. The 2 RT examinees or 10.52% of the total population was not included since they did not pass the board examination. A documentary analysis was conducted to get the data on academic performance, clinical internship grade and board rating. In the analysis of data gathered, the percentage and correlation coefficient were the main statistical treatments used in this study. The mean was used to determine the following: (a) academic performance in college; b) performance in clinical The correlation coefficient was used to determine the correlation between weighted linear combination of a) academic performance (C-GPA); b) clinical internship grade; and c) board rating.internship grade ; and (c) board rating. Results: (1) The Radiologic Technology graduates of De La Salle University - Aguinaldo, SY 1991-1992 had average academic performance in college. (2) Most of the Radiologic Technology graduates of De La Salle University - Aguinaldo, SY 1991-1992 got passing mark in the board examination. (3) The performance in clinical internship of the Radiologic Technology graduates is described as above average level and the clinical internship was higher than the board examination. (4) The performance in board examination belonged to the average level. (5) The over-all average in the clinical internship followed an increase-decreased increased grade. (6) The two variables namely, academic performance in the clinical internship were the predictors of board examination. Those who performed low in board examination also performed low in academics, the clinical internship slightly predict the board examination result. Academic performance is the best predictor to the success of the Radiologicc technology examinees in the board examination. In the light of the findings, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) The Radiologic Technology graduates of De La Salle University - Aguinalldo, SY 1991-1992 had average academic performance in college. (2) The performance in clinical internship were higher than the board examination. (3) Most of the Radiologic technology graduates of De La Salle university -Aguinaldo, SY 1991-1992 got a passing mark in the board examination. (4) The over-all average in the clinical internship followed an increased decreased grade, while in board examination followed a decreased increased grades. (5) The two variable namely academic performance and performance in the clinical internship were the predictors of board examination. Those who performed low in board examination also performed low in academics, the clinical internship only slightly predict the board examination result. Academic performance is the best predictor to the success of the Radiologic technology examinees in the board examination.
