Abstract
To determine the effectivity of clinical internship to the technical competency development of fourth year radiologic technology students of DLSU - A SY 1994-1995. Specifically, this study was aimed to: (1) Find out the level of effectivity of clinical internship of the respondents in terms of skills and attitudes. (2) Find out the level of technical competency development of the respondents in terms of skills and attitudes. (3) Find out if there is a significant relationship between the effectivity of clinical internship to the technical competency development of the respondents. This study was focused on the activities of the fourth year radiologic technology students during their training program SY 1994-1995 with emphasis on the effectivity of the clinical competency development in terms of skills and attitudes. The chosen respondents were the fourth year RT students of DLSU-A. This was limited to 71 students from the two sections of the fourth year level in the College of Radiologic Technology. Out of the 71 fourth year radiologic technology students, only 65 or 91.55% of the total population responded to answer the questionnaire given by the researchers. This study made use of the descriptive documentary survey method of research. Internship grades were gathered from the College of Radiologic Technology and Registrar's Office and the questionnaire-checklist were given to the respondents for self-evaluation of skills and attitudes. The statistical tools used were as follows: a) mean and b) Spearman's correlation coefficient. In the light of the above findings, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) The fourth year radiologic technology students had very good performance in their clinical internship. (2) The results of technical competency development in terms of skills and attitudes showed very good self-assessment of the respondents. (3) A low positive correlation exists between the effectivity of clinical internship and technical competency development of the respondents.
