Abstract
The study used the descriptive research design that used the STAI-AD questionnaire to measure the level of anxiety and a self-made questionnaire to determine the associated factors that contributes to anxiety of patients. it involves first time x-ray patients fro selected hospitals in Cavite. Purposive sampling was used in the study and the data were treated using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, analysis of variance and t-test. The study concluded that, 1) majority of the respondents are female with the most number belongs to age group of 41 to 65 years old and have attained high school education. Most of the respondents have monthly income of 10,000 pesos and below; 2) the study revealed that the respondents have somewhat anxious level of anxiety; 3) the respondents have the same level of anxiety regardless of their age, gender, educational attainment and socio-economic status; 4) the study revealed that the associated factors among first time x-ray patients who were very much anxious are, lack of information about the examination, outcome of the procedure, unfamiliarity of surroundings inside the x-ray department and being a first time patient in the x-ray department. Furthermore, the associated factors among first time x-ray patients who were moderately anxious were outcome of the procedure and being a first time patient in the x-ray department.
