Abstract

This study used a descriptive quantitative method using the total population of 147 radiologic technology interns of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute. A two-part questionnaire was used to determine the problems encountered by the respondents in handling geriatric patients when grouped according to gender and hospital affiliation. The data gathered were subjected to the following statistical treatments such as frequency, percentage and Chi-square. The study concluded that, 1) most of the respondents are female and the majority are assigned to government hospitals; 2) problems associated with positioning technique appeared to be most frequently encountered problem by the interns and cultural values are the least concern in handling geriatric patients; 3) there are no significant differences in the problems encountered in handling geriatric patients among radiologic interns in terms of patient attitude, patient mobility and communication when grouped according to gender. In addition, there are no significant differences in the problems encountered i handling geriatric patients among radiologic technology interns in terms of positioning technique, patient attitude, patient mobility and cultural values when grouped according to hospital affiliation.
