Abstract
This is a descriptive study that determines the level of satisfaction of caregivers in utilizing rehabilitation services for special children in Philippine Cerebral Palsy Inc. Specifically, the profile of the respondent as to age, gender and relation to the child as well as the address of the child, condition of the child and the rehabilitation center, the satisfaction level of caregivers regardng the availability, accessibility and quality of the care from the rehabilitation center were determined. A total number of 42 caregivers participated in the study. Results of the study showed that majority of the caregivers are 30-39 years old, females and most of them are parents of the special child. Cerebral Palsy is the most common condition of the child. The result showed that caregivers were satisfied with the availabilty services (4.16). This includes the completerness in the rehabilitation center, rehabilitation services and rehabilitation personnel. The caregivers were highly satisfied in terms of accessibility of rehabilitaiton center (4.42). this pertains to treatment schedule and duration, compliance to the time schedule, registration, accomodation and appointment scheduling, proximity or nearness of the rehabilitation center. In terms of the quality of care, the caregivers were highly satisfied (4.62) and this involves the therapist's provision of information on any change or imporvement on the child's condition, on how th treatment was done or will be done, provision of home instructions to the child and the caregiver, approach to the child and the caregiver, provision of information on how the child will benefit from the treatment and therapists' individualized attenton and care for the child. In conclusion, the caregivers in Philippine Cerebral Palsy Inc. were highly satisfied in the utilization of rehabilitation services based on the computed over-all mean score of 4.37. The researchers then recommend that a follow-up study regarding the impact of patient satisfaction on rehabilitation outcomes and how satisfaction affcts the rehabilitation.
