Abstract

The study employed a one-time case study design and used the survey method. This provided insights into the most common musculoskeletal injuries related to basketball among 70 UST students from 1985-1987 as revealed by their medical records. The gathered data showed that there were 38 kinds of musculoskeletal injuries suffered by 70 students. The most common type of injury was a strain, followed by a sprain, then fracture/dislocation. The most commonly affected were the hip/knee, followed by the ankle/foot in the lower extremity, while the shoulder/elbow for the upper extremity. The basketball cited in the study discussed, their mechanisms and treatment: goals and start presented; the diverse physical therapy and remedial procedures depicted.
