Abstract

The clinical reliability, clinical feasibility and intratester reliability of gait analysis using the temporal-distance measurement in the local setting demonstrated in our study on seven to twelve years old healthy schoolchildren. The method was easy to apply and was not time-consuming, with the yielded data that reproducible. A preliminary baseline data of the gait patterns of normal school children (ages 7 to 12 years) provided. Therefore, this was subject to the same age groups. The data obtained through kinematic quantitative gait analyses (i.e. temporal-distance measurement of different stride factors) were quantifiable and therefore provide the therapist with baseline data that used to plan treatment programs to assess the progress of the treatment. However, data derived from qualitative observation may be necessary to classify degrees of impairment and to check out the validity of quantitative variables measured. Therefore, both qualitative or observational gait analysis and quantitative gait analysis performed to provide a comprehensive picture of an individual's gait.
