Abstract
This study employed a qualitative research design using interview techniques. Self-Made Tagalog questions made as interview guides and asked 15 respondents of traditional healers chose three (3) barangays in Dasmariñas, Cavite. The data from the interview tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using percentage, mean, and t-test. Based on the results, (1) most of the respondents were female, ages 60-69 years old, married, Roman Catholic, from San Agustin, Dasmariñas, Cavite, and a Manghihilot as their specialization. (2) Three (3) major classification of traditional healers according to their fields of specialization, namely, 1) Manghihilot, 2) Ritualista, 3) Herbolario based their diagnosis through a system of observation and inquiry from the patient. (3) Some believed they were instruments of God in healing claim they can immediately know the patient's illness without even asking. (4) The treatment procedures used by the traditional healers depending on their specializations: massage, herbal treatment, rituals and prescribing pharmacology drugs, but most of them use a combination of these methods aforementioned: (5) Majority of these believe that man's disease caused by purely organic reasons (example: negligence of sanitation). Some think that illness brought about by a combination of organic reasons and supernatural beliefs and the rest believe in pure supernatural causes.
