Abstract

This study employed a descriptive design using a survey technique. A self-made questionnaire distributed to 26 hospital and clinic respondents in Manila as listed in the PLDT telephone directory chosen through simple quota sampling. The data from the questionnaire tallied, tabulated, and analyzed. Based on the results, the researchers concluded (1) nine (9) out of 26 hospitals had physical therapy department, (2) all nine hospitals offered the three basic therapeutic services of Electrotherapy, Hydrotherapy, and Therapeutic exercises. (3) All nine hospitals deemed by the respondents to have adequate physical therapy modalities to perform the three basic therapeutic services, adequate physical working conditions and the minimum of at least one full-time staff therapist. (4) All nine hospitals paid salaries below the minimum wage (as set by Department of Labor and Employment) and did not have standardized work benefits for their therapists.
