Abstract
In the field of Rehabilitation Medicine, the main goal of Physical Therapy to attain the highest level of independence. This encouraged the researchers to focus their study on the ambulation status of CVA patients discharged from Rehabilitation Medicine in DLSUMC and JPRMH to provide feedback to the staff of both hospitals regarding the outcome of their stroke rehabilitation. In the course of their endeavor, the researchers paid particular attention to the analysis of the following data. 1. Ambulation status. 2. Level of independence according to different prognosticating factors for ambulation. A. age. B. type of stroke. C. site of the lesion. D. neurologic status. E. presence or absence of contractures in the lower extremities. F. sitting and standing balance upon discharge. To find the answers to these problems, the researchers undertook a review of the Physical Therapy charts of stroke patients seen and discharged from DLSUMC, JPRMH from researchers able to get the data needed and using tally and percentage method, analysis. Based on the results, the study, the researchers recommend the following, 1. a follow-up study accomplished to evaluate the ambulation status 1-2 years post-stroke of the discharged patients. 2. That DLSUMC and JPRMH uses a special recording sheet for evaluation/progress and discharged records of the stroke patients to assure completeness of data.
