Abstract

This study employed a descriptive design using a survey technique with a self-made questionnaire distributed to 105 faculty members at De La Salle University - Aguinaldo chosen through simple quota sampling. The data from the questionnaires tallied, tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. The results of the study showed, that there seems to be a high level of awareness regarding proper posture and back hygiene practices of DLSU-A faculty. However, the authors noted two areas where proper posture not effectively practiced, namely when ironing clothes (92%) and when brushing their teeth (63%). The next area of least awareness was in proper sitting posture (46%). Proper posture most frequently practiced when walking (90%). In all areas, at least 60%-65% of the respondents knew of the correct posture to use during their work and home activities. Contributing factors included working furniture used. In 88% of the cases, the table used does not have the ideal specifications. Likewise, 88% do not use a footstool when sitting. Researchers concluded the faculty of DLSU-A, generally, practice proper body mechanics except, in the use of proper office equipment.
