Abstract
The researchers used descriptive design using the survey technique. A self-made questionnaire distributed to 70 spinal cord injured wheelchair borne patients in Metro Manila chosen simple quota sampling. The instrument translated into Tagalog. The data from the questionnaire tallied, tabulated, and analyzed. Data gathered and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. Results of the study as follows, (1) 57.28% of the respondents completed lessons with 10% quadriplegics and 35.71% high paraplegics. (2) the most common area of complaint was in the use of the wheelchair specifically dependence on transfers. (3) A physical complaint was uncommon, (4) the three most frequent specific complaints were dependence on transfers, inappropriate wheelchair size, and uncomfortable cushion. Based on the results of the study, the ten most common complaints or problems identified, among spinal cord injured patients. (1) Dependence in transfer, (2) inappropriate wheelchair size, (3) inappropriate wheelchair cushion, (4) difficulty in wheelchair propulsion, (5) difficulty in positioning oneself in the wheelchair, (6) inappropriate height of footplate, (7) accidents, (8) dependence in wheelchair propulsion, (9) back pain, (10) uncomfortable backsets.
