Abstract

The researchers used a descriptive design using a survey technique with a self-made questionnaire distributed to 43 discharged myocardial infraction patients chosen through simple quota sampling. The instrument translated into Tagalog. The gathered data from the questionnaire tallied, tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. Patient education on etiology and preventive care of myocardial infraction was essential in the rehabilitation of cardiac patients, thus, promoted the researchers to pursue the study. Results of the study revealed the following, (1) 88% of the study respondent had their first Myocardial infraction 1-2 years before the study. (2) Their knowledge regarding the etiology and preventive care aspect of Myocardial Infraction was incomplete. Also regarding diet, activity control and exercise precaution. (3) Respondent was the least knowledgeable on the importance and proper implementation of exercise types of aerobic exercise they could apply. (4) The Patient's knowledge of etiology and risk factors of myocardial infraction still needs to reinforced or strengthened due to persistent misconception.
