Abstract

Pregnancy is a time in a women's life where many changes occurs. These changes may be temporary, permanent of may be normal during pregnancy. Since pregnant women are predisposed to such changes, the researchers aimed at developing a manual for pregnant women and tested its effectiveness in increasing the patient's knowledge regarding management of musculoskeletal problems during this time. The researchers used the descriptive design using survey technique. Data was obtained through a questionnaire distributed to 10 respondents were pregnant women at Silang, Cavite. The pre and post-activity instrument was translated into tagalog. The pre-test was administered before manual was given. After a week, post-test was given and the results were subjected to a T-test. Based on the results, the manual was considered effective in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women on management of musculoskeletal problems. However, there are still some aspects of the manual which need to be improved. The authors recommend that Physical Therapist and other Rehabilitation Medical Professional become actively involved in the care of obstetric patients. Health education classes and leaflets should be given to pregnant mothers like measures on how to manage musculoskeletal problems among pregnant mothers.
