Abstract
The authors used two types of data gathering procedure for their study namely questionnaire and personal interview. A total number of 591 first to third year medical students were included in the survey and given a questionnaire, though only 481 or 81% of them responded. All full-time faculty of the College of Medicine totaling seventy-one were included, however only forty0eight of them responded, representing 67% of the population. The frequency of the data entered were taken and the results compared for both faculty and medical students. The administrative staff on the other hand, were interviewed personally due to their small number. Results of the overall response of the faculty showed ambivalence leaning towards favoring the transfer of the College of Physical Therapy to the Medical Campus. The medical students on the other hand manifested a stronger feeling against the transfer. These were determined after comparing the results obtained from t-he following: 1) general feeling on sharing the physical facilities with the physical therapy students, 2) on how supportive the faculty and staff of the College of Medicine would be, 3) on the possible noise problem that will result from the transfer, 4) on the possibility of social interaction between the two colleges, and 5) on fostering collaboration between the two colleges. The administrative staff were not outright unfavorable regarding the transfer, as they feel that they can still accommodate the additional students resulting from the same. Due to the high manifestation of ambivalence among the faculty and medical students regarding the transfer of the College of Physical Therapy to the Medical Campus, the researchers recommend a re-study on the same issue after four years. This is to determine whether after some period of adjustment, sentiments regarding the matter have changed favorably or otherwise.
