Abstract
PT widens the scope of awareness and prevention to people nowadays. It involves studies of different cases situated in a community-based pattern. Thus, it becomes a stepping stone not only for future references but rather delivers advantages that benefits the people through seminars, applications and compliance for rehabilitation. One particular example is scoliosis. Initiate this emotion, which advocates that massive international education program, to ensure early recognition of scoliosis before irreversible changes occur. This descriptive study for the same purpose but uses only manuals to assist randomly chosen teachers which became effective in detection of gross and apparent scoliosis but not with mild scoliosis and those with normal spine. Through this, the researchers prompted to conduct and lecture using Forward Bending Test as a screening test for scoliosis with subjects able to recognize models with varying degrees of scoliosis from those with normal spine. Self-made questionnaire was distributed to 10 respondents were Amaya Elementary School Physical Education teachers chosen through simple quota sampling. Two teachers from each grade levels from grades 2-6, participated in the training program. The survey instrument used pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Data were gathered and interpreted using frequency percentage, mean, and T-test. Results of the study showed that combined use of manual and lecture as training method is very effective in detecting scoliosis both with mild and severe curves and those with normal spine. The authors highly recommend that a follow-up involving parents to accommodate active participation in early detection and prevention of scoliosis.
