Abstract
This descriptive study aimed to identify the Common Disabilities that are present in Barangay Biluso, Cavite as of February, 1996. Data were collected by the researcher, together with the barangay health workers through house to house survey using an interview schedule guide from 50 respondents were households chosen through simple quota sampling. Any member of the family who is knowledgeable about family matters was interviewed. Data were gathered and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. Data showed or multiple disabilities. A total of 132 disabilities were identified. Results showed that visual inacuity are the most common disabilities found in Barangay Biluso, Silang, Cavite. The two common causes of physical disabilities were low back pain and arthritis and the most common causes of visual inacuity was visual disorders. Physical middle adulthood, and either farmer or laborers. The authors recommend that a patient education program concerning low back pain and arthritis, its prevention, and management be implemented in the form of the community. A community assembly should be conducted and training manuals be made and distribution and managements by means of training manual for home program implementation. The nature of early prevention program is inexpensive, therefore, it can be easily carried out on a home based program.
