Abstract

People experience neck pain because of improper posture and the only time that they seek consultation is when the pain itself limits their performance in activities of daily living. The reason is that people suffering from neck pain are not aware of the importance of early consultation and proper neck care. The researchers used the descriptive design using survey technique. Self-made questionnaire was distributed to 20 respondents in Sitio Buisan, Barangay Langkaan, Dasmariñas, Cavite chosen through simple quota sampling. The survey instrument used pre-test and post-test questionnaires and was translated into Tagalog was given as a preliminary assessment on their awareness regarding prevention of neck pain. Data were gathered and interpreted using frequency mean, standard deviation, and T-test. However, it was strongly recommended that a formal training program be implemented simultaneous with the use of a manual to further improve the learning of the respondents. Data obtained showed a significant increase in the knowledge of the participants based on their compared to 86% in the post-test. Postural education classes and leaflets should be given for those people who could have a greater risk of developing neck pain.
