Abstract
This is descriptive study which focused on 2 methods in teaching Forward Bending Test to DBB-C community health workers namely, through manual and lecture. The objective was to determine which of the two methods is more effective in teaching scoliotic assessment among grade 6 students. 20 community health workers were randomly selected as subjects. 10 of which were given manual and the other 10 were taught through lectures. After training, 5 grade 6 student were evaluated by the trainees for scoliosis using the Forward bending test. All data gathered were tallied and put into tables, percentages were computed. Based on the findings, the authors therefore conclude that with the use of the manual and the lecture, all the community health workers consistently interpreted the Forward bending test on the patient model with a severe curvature of 45 degrees. However, with the use of a manual, more community health workers correctly interpreted the moderate scoliosis with a 30 degree curvature.
