Abstract
The development of many basic rehabilitation services in the form of Community Based Rehabilitation Programs all over the country would significantly reduce the prevalence of disabilities of the country. The researchers used the descriptive design using survey technique. Self-made questionnaire was distributed to 35 respondents at Sitio Buwisan, Barangay Lankaan, Dasmariñas, Cavite chosen through simple quota sampling. The survey instrument used disability survey patterned after World Health Organization Manual of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps and translated into Tagalog. Data were gathered and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. Not only will this study be use by the College of PT in designing the training program for community health workers but it will identify the disabled and make aware off CBR's . Also, the study is in cognizance with the goal of the Second Decade of Disabled Persons which is disability prevention. All types off disabilities classified in the WHO Manual of Impairments, disabilities and Handicaps were found to exist and these are physical (51.34%), visual (28.57%), hearing (14.28%), and medical (5.71%). According to age, most disabled belong to late adulthood (34.32%) and according to sex, females (60%) were found to be higher in number as disabled and common among housewives. the researchers recommend that seminars on causes and preventions of disabilities be conducted among disabled individuals found in the area.
