Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to identify the most common disability problems that are present in Sto. Ilang-Ilang Batas, Silang, Cavite. Data were collected through house to house interview of all the households in the community made by the researchers with the helped of the Barangay Health Workers using interview to 56 respondents were household heads with a total population of 208 chosen through simple quota sampling. The instrument was translated into Tagalog. Queries were given and the researchers noted down all the items related to the individuals disability. The data from the questionnaire was tallied, tabulated, and analyzed. Data were gathered and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. Data showed that 68 members of the community had either single or multiple disabilities. Results showed that the number one (1) problem, it also shows that males belong to early adulthood and unemployed were predominantly afflicted with Musculoskeletal injuries like Low Back Pain and Arthritis. The researchers recommended that seminars be concluded to the barangay to teach them on the proper body mechanics, However, the most requested topic if ever a seminar is to be conducted are about 1st aid and pediatric condition handling and techniques. Families of involved individuals should also participate during the seminar for a total commitment of the whole community program. Furthermore, it is recommended that members of the Rehabilitation team, particularly the physiatrist and physical therapist be part of the total CBR program in the community.
