Abstract
Knowledge and attitude of doctors regarding other fields of medicine may have effect on the rate of referrals to these fields. Doctors vary in their referral to different specialization. They may refer patients to other fields for additional evaluation procedures or therapeutic procedures. the rates in which they refer to other medical or allied medical disciplines maybe influenced by different factors. therefore, the authors conducted a study to determine the factors that will have an effect on the rate of doctors to other medical or allied medical professionals. A questionnaire was formulated to be answered by a selected 68 medical consultants at De La Salle Medical Center. A close- ended type of questionnaire was used which was composed of 3 major parts. Part A was on the general profile of the doctors. part B was aimed to assess their knowledge about PT and part C was to assess their attitude regarding referring patients to PT. They were graded accordingly. From the data gathered , results showed that the total years of practice. Particularly at DLSUMC is the only factor that has a significant influence or effect to physicians referral rate. While the knowledge about PT and the attitude towards referral tp PT did not show any significant influence and good association towards referral rates
