Abstract

This survey was aimed to identify the 10 most common PT related conditions at Health and Beauty System Foundation incorporation in BF Homes Parañaque, Metro Manila from June 1996 to December 1998. The researchers collected data from the center using a checklist based on the conditions commonly referred to Physical Therapy. Data were gathered from 430 cases recorded in the center from 1996 to 1998. Data collected were then organized and put into tables and graphs for analysis. data showed that 43 types of cases were identified and categorized. Results of the study showed the following. The 10 most common cases were soft tissue injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, low back pain, connective tissue diseases, fractures, Pni and peripheral neuropathies, MPS and RSD, cervical spondylosis, scoliosis, and cerebral palsy. The most common classification of cases were orthopedic conditions (57.44%), followed by neurologic conditions (28.84%), and general medical conditions (13.72%), lastly, the majority of the patients were female, married, unemployed, within the age bracket of 45-60 years old, and mostly residents of BF Homes Parañaque. The authors recommend that focus should be placed at soft tissue injuries, Cerebrovascular accidents , and Low Back Pain cases regarding its clinical set up and treatment protocols. Clinical interns should have a sound basis on the following in order to facilitate proper treatment and management on the said cases. Community seminars to be effective, should be held in classes with one to three health care workers facilitating to educate the community about reduction of the disease prevalence and risk factors. the reason for this is that most patients are college graduates and housewives, thus, facilitation of education and time would not be a problem. One more concern is the promotion of the clinic to the neighboring towns and subdivisions because majority of the patients are residing at BF Homes, Parañaque.
