Abstract
This is a study on the most common rehabilitative conditions among inpatients at Jose P. Rizal National Memorial Research Center from January 1998 to December 1999. It aims to provide information among the rehabilitation personnel of the said hospital as to planning for a more comprehensive patient management of the cases. This is a descriptive study which made use of data from medical records of the patients in Dr. Jose P. Rizal National Memorial Hospital - Department of Physical Therapy. Results of the study showed that the most common condition was stroke (76.13%) out of the 16 conditions identified. The most common rehabilitative condition seen among inpatients who belong to the Childhood group was Meningitis (71.43%) . Stroke was prevalent among the Adolescence group with 33.33%, among the Early Adulthood group with 54.54%, among the Middle Adulthood group with 78.57% and among the Late Adulthood group with 90.16%. Other results also revealed that Stroke was prevalent among males (70.59%) females (82.86%), among working patients (55.71%) and non-working patients (72.57%). Neurological conditions (81.94%) has the highest prevalence, followed by Orthopedic Conditions (8.39%), cardiovascular Conditions (6.45%) and Pulmonary Conditions (3.23%). As a result of the study, the researchers highly recommend that efforts be made through seminars and lectures by rehabilitation personnel of Dr. Jose P. Rizal National Memorial Research Center - Department of Physical Therapy to educate the community regarding the immediate preventive and curative rehabilitation of the identified clinical conditions.
