Abstract

The research aimed to obtain the 3 most common household activities usually done by housewives with chronic LBP in Barangay Sta. Cruz II, Dasmarinas, Cavite. The subjects included housewives with low back pain lasting for 6 months or more, without medical consultation of the cause of low back pain, within 20-60 years of age, with history of child bearing or was currently pregnant, and was a resident of the said study area. Interviews were done to qualified housewives of the said locality to answer the objectives of the study. Results of the study showed that the 3 most common household activities among housewives with chronic low back pain were: (1) manual laundry and dusting furniture (19.197%); (2) cooking and sweeping the floor (18.848%) and (3) overhead reaching activities (14. 485%). This study is recommended to have further evaluation of housewives with regards to the phycho emotional effects of LBP. Aside from that this study is recommended for PTs who impart patient education, for them to know in what aspect of energy conservation and work simplification that they should concentrate with.
