Abstract

The study was conducted at Kagitingan Golf and Country Club in Fort Bonifacio, Makati City, Metro Manila where a total of 100 questionnaires written in Filipino were given to the crew members who were assessed based on age, years of service, the number of working hours and the history of physical complaints prior to employment. Out of the 100 employees who answered the questionnaires, only 71 respondents were qualified to participate in the study. A total of 29 of the study population were disqualified to participate based on age (10 employees), years of service (12) and history of physical complaints prior to employment. (7). Based on the study conducted, the most common physical complaints among crew members of Kagitingan Golf and Country Club was back pain. Based on the socio-demographic profile of employees having physical complaints, the frequency is the highest in the 18-25 age group (55.22%) while physical complaints were more frequent in females (56.72%) than males (43.28%). Based on nature of work, teeboys and teegirls (44.78%) and those employees who worked for >2 years (83.58%) have the highest physical complaints. Most of the physical complaints have no interfere with their work. It is highly recommended that a follow-up study be conducted to further assess the relationship of pain to the working condition and the common errors in postures done by the crew members during work. Increase in the study population is recommended to the follow-up study and a similar survey should be done in other departments of the company as well as other business establishments to identify work related physical complaints. And lately, a seminar for the personnel regarding proper body mechanics and work modifications should be conducted.
