Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the prevalence rate of PNPA Cadet Officer with Flat upper back deformity, this however, does not attempt to determine the exact cause of the deformity and differences in the training program of each class level. This research was conducted at Camp Castaneda in Silang, Cavite and required 30 out of 60 male cadet officers as subjects from each class level. the prevalence of flat upper back deformity was determined through questionnaires and physical examination which included measurements of trunk range of motion, chest expansion, interacromial and interscapular distances and the assessment of posture. The data gathered was tallied, analyzed and summarized into tables in order to get the prevalence rate of cadet officers with flat upper back deformity. Based on the Demographic Profile , results showed that the most common age group affected with flat upper back deformity belonged to the 23 years age group 33.33% occurrence. With regards to the years of training, an equal frequency of 33.33% was noted. The proportion of PNPA cadet officers with flat upper back deformity was 83.33%. 96.67% of cadet officers present with pain. 100% of the cadet officers with flat upper back deformity does not present with any restriction in their movements and reported that it has no effect on their training .Based on ADL performance, 93.33% of the cadet officers show that flat upper back deformity has no effects on their functions while only 6.67% of the cadet officer showed that it has effect on their ADL. 100% of the cadet officers have no knowledge on the importance of PT. The authors would like to recommend future researchers to gather information regarding the training differences for each class level for the study to be more accurate and effective.
