Abstract
The study was conducted for the purpose of determining the five (5) most common physical complaints among PMA fourth class cadets of Batch 2003. Becoming aware of the common physical complaints and its causes will help in lessening injury or trauma to one's body. A descriptive type of research design was used. Fourth class cadets of ages 17-22 who had physical and medical examination but with no history of physical complaint prior to joining the PMA were the subjects of the study. Individual questionnaires were distributed by the researchers in gathering the needed data for the study. Results of the study showed that seventy six (76) or 49.67% of the total number of the 153 PMA fourth class cadets who participated in the study were identified to have physical complaints. Physical complaints were most evident in PMA ACL male cadets, 68 (49.28%) have physical complaints. And, out of 15 4CL female cadets, 8 (53.33%) were identified to have physical complaints. The study was able to identify the five (5) most common physical complaints among PMA fourth class cadets of batch 2003: (1) Back Pain (65.79%), (2) Muscle Cramps (56.58%), (3) Muscle Strain (52.26%), (4) Muscle Fatigue (48.68%), and (5) Neck Pain (42.10%). Squat thrust (25%) was identified as the specific military training where PMA fourthclass body position assumed during training which causes the occurrence of these complaints. As the physical complaints may hamper the effectiveness of each cadet during their military training, further studies that would focus on the source of the physical complaints identified as well as its effects to the cadets' training and daily task is then warranted. Programs or exercises that could minimize the physical complaints among the cadets and frequent medical check-up are also recommended.
